Dry and clean recyclables such as rigid plastics, paper, cardboard, glass, steel and aluminium can be collected in a single bin for recycling. Once collected, various technologies are used to pre-screen and manually separate your commingled waste into viable streams to be baled. This enables their reuse in new manufacturing processes. Once in bales, the waste is transported to local recyclers or exported to be turned into new products and materials such as containers and textiles.
Around a third of all recyclable items are placed in the wrong bin and end up in landfill sites as a result. With a little help from Waste Sense, you can reduce the amount of waste that your business sends to landfill. We’re a waste broker, which means there’s no incentive for us to send waste to the tip if we can avoid it. This is why almost a third of our services involve recycled waste. We can use a traditional waste company or look for a specialised recycler who will find a secondary use for what you think is waste.
